Red Faction (#Screen Shots)

The first-person shooter is one of the most popular in video games. THQ's Red Faction made revolutionary steps by making scenery destructible setting the standards on the console platforms an the N gage its doing the same thing, should please all FPS fans.

The theme of the game, the characters will be familiar to the players of the console version, you take on the role of a miner called parker. Right at the start of the game a riot breaks out an from then on you will have to fight for your survival, the mines of mars make for the usual tunnel/corridor shooting environment with enemies around each corner, but things get more interesting once you make your way through the game.

The games consists of individual levels rather than a large environment, completing a level is normally just finding the right door, unlike FPS these days which consist of various puzzles to be overcome.

The control method isn't as hard as you would think with game pad. changing weapons an movement work ok, you shouldn't have too many issues getting around the levels. Red faction is a wonderfully looking game with high resolution textures an the models seem to have a high polygon count an even with high end graphics the game's frame rate stays constant.

From the start of the game your armed with only a pickaxe no matter how trusty it is you wont be able to progress further with some new fire power, the ranges from grenades to rifles, including everyone's favourite FPS weapon the rocket launcher. but ammunition is in short supply so be wary.
Health and armor are equally rare finds, causing you to die frequently. Since you can only save between levels, but don't get life/ammo refills in the process, you'll be doing quite a bit of backtracking.
